Bringing the Energy

Business NSW represents over 49,000 businesses across the state, connecting and supporting members through a vast calendar of regional events. When we were introduced to Zoe Bose, Head of Regional Events, we quickly discovered a shared energy and vision for elevating their productions. With a major awards night only weeks away, Zoe needed a creative partner who could take a wealth of static finalist images and turn them into something far more engaging. Our goal was simple: help transform the event into a truly memorable experience — something closer to the Oscars than a slideshow.

Challenge

The Central Coast Economy Visitor Awards night featured 34 finalists across 12 categories. Each finalist submitted imagery, but the assets were inconsistent: different formats, ratios, and quality levels. Used “as is,” they would have looked flat on the big screen, risking a less exciting experience for both finalists and the audience. With only a month to prepare, the challenge was to create a high-impact visual identity for the awards without burdening the finalists or overcomplicating event logistics.

Our Approach

We proposed building a series of category bumpers — short, animated videos introducing each award category and showcasing finalists. By carefully re-framing, animating, and sequencing the still images provided, we created movement and rhythm that gave the awards a cinematic feel. Our process included:

  • Curating and optimizing 34 sets of finalist images.

  • Designing consistent motion graphics for all 12 categories.

  • Ensuring every bumper worked seamlessly with staging, timing, and the host’s delivery.

The result was an Oscar-style visual package that elevated the production without requiring costly live shoots.

Results

On the awards night, the bumpers delivered exactly what was needed:

  • Energised the atmosphere of the event, making it feel polished and professional.

  • Improved engagement, with finalists and attendees responding enthusiastically.

  • Opened doors to future collaborations with other Business NSW divisions.

What started as a quick-turnaround project became a demonstration of how even small creative shifts can completely change the impact of a live event.

Why This Matters

Events live and die on audience energy. While venues and hosts are critical, the visual layer ties it all together. This project shows how bringing stills to life can transform even the most basic assets into something engaging, memorable, and shareable. For Business NSW, it not only elevated one awards night, but also highlighted new opportunities to use motion as a strategy across future events, campaigns, and online platforms.
